The Parent Support Network (PSN) will host its first annual Harvest Home Tour from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 14. This fundraiser serves to raise money for PSN in order to provide scholarships for seniors, support high school activities and provide the teachers with appreciation gifts.
Five families will open their homes for the FCS community and supporting churches to tour. Only one ticket is required for access to all five homes. The cost per ticket for the event is $20 if purchased in advance or $25 at the door. Tickets are available at all FCS office
The tour may begin at whichever house one chooses to attend and in whichever order is preferable. The five hosts, who are all FC families, include Victor and Jennifer Breedlove, Jose and Ivette Ibarra, John and Sherri Lee, John and Cynthia Ward and Seth and Chrissy Williams. Refreshments will be available at the Breedlove and Ward homes.
According to Lee, a Harvest Home Tour host, the fundraiser serves to bring people together and raise funds at the same time.
"The contrast between the homes is part of what makes the tour very interesting and fun," Lee said. "The homes range in size from 3000 to 9000 square feet. The houses range from brand new to 70 years old. All homes feature distinctively different architectural and decorating styles which reflect the homeowners' taste. Even though the theme is 'Fall Harvest,' you will see many variations of décor and style arrangements."
Due to the economic hardships facing some families, PSN opted not to partake in its usual Second Space Theater fundraiser as done in previous years. Instead, the idea for a home tour came about from positive and successful experiences from other similar events in the community such as the La Comida Guild Holiday Home Tour for Children’s Hospital Central California.
"We will continue to do the home tour in the future if it is a fundraising success and people seem to like it," Pam Powell, PSN president, said. "I am very excited for the event because it's our first time ever doing something like this. The students and parents are working along with PSN in order to make the event profitable as well as enjoyable."
The PSN requests that those who partake in the home tour follow several etiquette guidelines:
