FCS AUCTION: The Fresno Christian Auction is just around the corner!! The dinner/silent and live auction will take place Saturday, March 17, from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. in the FCS Gym. Please be sure and order your tickets/tables as soon as possible. My husband and I always look forward to this event and hope to see many of you there!
Also remember, we need your donations!! Popular auction items include: boutique items, collectibles, vacation packages, jewelry, art, tools, dinner packages, professional services, electronics, garden supplies, gift certificates, etc. Turn in the forms with your donation (or clearly mark auction donation) and our class will get credits towards a party. Your child will also receive tickets to put into a drawing. You may get these from Mrs. Roberts.
FIELD TRIP TO MUSICAL PLAY:
On Friday, March 2 all the 5th and 6th graders in three classes will attend a musical theater production entitled Yo, Vikings presented by the Children’s Musical Theatre. We now have six drivers to take us to the Fresno Veterans’ Memorial. If you are driving, please email the number of students you are able to take in your car. Thank you!
**PHOTOS NEEDED FOR MEMORY BOOK AND 6TH GRADE PROMOTION:
Several of you have taken some lovely photographs at our field trips or various events during this school year. We would be greatly blessed to have a CD or thumb drive of these photos to download for the memory book (year book) and for the 6th grede promotion. We especially need photos right away for the memory book as Mrs. Warkentin is working on them this week. In addition to the photos, is there a parent who has a little talent in this area and would consider putting together our 2 pages on the computer for the book (with the help of Brenda Warkentin)? Please email me if the Lord is prompting you!
5th grade will continue Ch. 7 on Number Theory and Addition and Subtraction of Fractions. 6th grade began their Ch. 7 on Ratio, Proportion, and Percent. Both grades will also have a packet of challenge sheets.
We will continue a unit on the digestive system with the first quiz on Wednesday. This will be on nine parts of digestion and the function of each one.
READING AND LANGUAGE:
We will review for final tests on the novels we read and make projects that each student will choose in response to the books. We also continue the reading of our realistic fiction books and continue making our responses with foldables.
One of our important 5th grade standards is learning all of the states, their locations on a map, and their capitals. Soon they will begin quizzes on sections of the U.S. with the big test given in April. Please have your child play games, do puzzles, make flash cards, and use web sites to learn these beginning now. One free site I recommend is sheppardsoftware.com. Click on U.S. geography and choose the states and capitals tutorial. Thank you for your support on this standard that will be covered in Mrs.Hancox’s social studies class.
