Please plan to have your child here on time as we begin our week focusing on and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ!
MEUX TRIP
A very special thank you to all of you who so kindly helped chaperone, carpool, and feed our class on the Meux Museum Trip and the the Historic Walking Tour of Fresno. We will be doing a fun hands on activity in the afternoon to learn about this concept. You are welcome to send a pie with your child on Wednesday in celebration! Thank you!

MATH
We will have a test over Chapter 7 Geometry and Measurement on Thursday, March 15. A study guide pre-test will go home today. Please review together and return on Thursday.

READING
This week we will conduct Benchmark Assessments in reading with Scholastic Reading Inventories on Wednesday and Friday of this week.
LANGUAGE ARTS / WRITING
This week 3rd Quarter Benchmark Writing Assessments on fictional narratives will be administered on Wednesday. Third graders have spent time learning about story elements including: describing characters, setting, a plot with a sequence of events, villain (someone or something that causes a problem), the conflict, and the resolution. Students have been busy organizing their thoughts with graphic organizers in cluster webs and story maps. The writing process has also involved writing a rough draft, editing, revising, color coding descriptive words, similes, dialogue, beginning, middle, and ending. These descriptive words, similes, and dialogue make our stories “come alive” in our final draft. We are also learning to self-grade according to rubric requirements.
SOCIAL STUDIES PROJECT
Our third grade class will be completing a Fresno History Board in class to display at Open House. Students will be assigned a partner to “share a board” with. The information will be done separately and they will be graded on their work only. Also, please check with your child as I will assign them to either bring in a freestanding Tri-fold board (size 36” x 48”) or a nice border for the project. These can be purchased at any school or office supply store. These will be due on Tuesday, April 10th, when we return from Easter Vacation.

AUCTION ITEMS
Don’t forget this upcoming weekend is our annual school auction! You still have time to donate items and purchase tickets for this wonderful event! Another great way for everyone to help FCS at the auction is to donate a dessert. They are not served with dinner so we count on desserts, (and pay a pretty penny for them)! Simple desserts have sold for hundreds, even thousands, of dollars! Serving dishes make desserts even more valuable.
Bring your desserts to the FCS gym on Saturday, March 17 , between 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. We will even wrap them for you! Cookies, cakes, pies, brownies, candies, dipped items, tarts, cupcakes…every dessert will be sold! Students will receive points for each dessert item donated. Be sure to fill out a form for your student’s class to get credit. Thank you for your support!! Questions? Call Darbee Whipple at 352-5168.
AUCTION CLASS TEA SET
You will surely want to check out the beautiful class teapot and cup set created by our third graders and Mrs. Taggett, their art teacher!! It will be on display Saturday night at the Auction Dinner. What a great keepsake!! The set will go to the highest bidder so be sure to check it out as you enjoy an exciting evening with our FCS family for a great cause!
GET A WAY LUNCH WITH MRS. FRASER & A FRIEND
Be sure to look for a “GET-A-WAY LUNCH WITH MRS. FRASER AND A FRIEND” at the FCS Auction Dinner Night! It will be listed in the Silent Auction section and will go to the highest bidder!!
