Dear Parents and Students,

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: Thank you students for starting to bring in your boxes of love!

Operation Christmas Child brought smiles to the faces of 7.7 million poor, sick and suffering children in more than 100 countries last year through shoeboxes filled with school supplies, hygiene items, toys, candy and other small gifts.  But these boys and girls received something even more important than a Christmas present.  They also leaned about the greatest gift of all—God’s son, Jesus Christ.

Each year, Operation Christmas Child delivers millions of shoebox gifts to children in desperate circumstances around the world.  In addition to bringing happiness to boys and girls who other wise wouldn’t receive any presents, this exciting project of Samaritan’s Purse also opens doors for presenting the Good News of Jesus Christ.  Through children’s literature and evangelistic programs, many lives are changed for eternity.

We would like to invite you to join us this year as we again reach out to boys and girls in the Name of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to collect 250 shoeboxes at Fresno Christian Elementary by November 7 for children who face a daily struggle against war, persecution, disease, natural disaster, poverty, illness, or neglect.  Pray that God will meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

SHOE BOXES ARE AVAILABLE FOR PICK-UP IN THE ELEMENTARY OFFICE.

FRESNO CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS MARCHES IN THE VETS PARADE! Do you want to join a “ONE SHOT” opportunity to REP FCS in the biggest parade west of the Mississippi? One practice qualifies you to march with our percussion line and colorguard flag team. The practice is on Tuesday, November 5th from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. by the FCS gym. The parade steps off in downtown Fresno on November 11th. Busses will transport all FCS participants and adult sponsors. Sign up by November 1st in the office so we know how to plan.

ELEMENTARY BASKETBALL:

Signups for elementary basketball begin this week. The 5th and 6th grade teachers will have the signup lists for the boys and girls teams. The season begins the first week of December.

A special “Thank You” to all students in grades 4-6 who applied for Student Council 2013-2014. We had 23 applicants and only 12 positions available. The 12 who were elected where chosen by their individual responses on:
What characters should a leader have?
What ideas or projects do you have in mind to promote our school theme of :
We Are One, Growing In Christ.
The students who gave concrete answers to support these two positions, were the chosen 12 who will represent 4-6 council this year. They will do their best to provide a strong leadership for all students with service and school spirit. I encourage the students who were not chosen for this year’s council to serve right where they are planted! Ask your teachers if there is anything you can do to assist them in the classroom. May the Lord bless you as you seek to serve and grow in Christ.
