“It Feels Like Family”: What Our Community Loves About Fresno Christian Schools

Over the last 50 years, Fresno Christian Schools (FCS) has cultivated a meaningful community built on a love for students and Jesus.

However, don’t just take our word for it! During the 2026 FCS homecoming festivities, we asked students, parents, grandparents, and alumni:

What do YOU love about Fresno Christian Schools?

“I love picking my grandkids up from school, and I ask them: How was your day? It’s always great, and that just thrills my soul,” said Rebecca Schmidt, an FCS grandparent (and former kindergarten aide).

Kristen Schermerhorn, an FCS parent, told us “I love that my kids get to go to school together despite their age gap [because all grades are on the same campus]…they get to learn about their passion for Jesus first and foremost.”

John Foster, an alum ‘lifer’ (was an FCS student K-12) and parent of two alumni, said he didn’t just enjoy his experience at FCS, he loved it.

“Everyone is connected and has the best interest of the kids at heart,” Max Wyatt, an FCS parent and board member, shared.

“[There are] so many people that love and pour into you. [FCS is] such a great place to just be yourself,” said Ethan Klassen, a current FCS senior..

We pray every student who comes to our campus finds a place to belong and experiences the love of God. As we look ahead, we also asked people to share:

What is your hope and prayer for FCS for the next 50 years?

“My hope and prayer for Fresno Christian in the next 50 years would be just the same dedication to the word of God and transforming the lives of kids,” Max Wyatt said.

Kristen Schermerhorn said, “A hope or prayer I have for Fresno Christian 50 years from now is that we are still doing God’s work, and kids are still being invested in.”
