Supported Students Succeed
Learn about the mission of Fresno Christian’s Student Liaisons, Hope and James
Remember being an 8th grader? It’s challenging enough as it is. Now, imagine rushing to your 8th grade math class, plopping into your desk, and trying to focus on the numbers on the board while your mind is still reeling after attending your grandpa’s funeral the day before.
It’s impossible to succeed academically and socially when you’re not doing well in other areas of your life.
James Garcia and Hope Villines, Fresno Christian’s student liaisons, share the same goal: to ensure every student feels safe, supported, and encouraged to grow in faith. They meet students where they are, helping them navigate challenges such as transitioning to a new school, dealing with family changes, or asking big questions about their beliefs.
“We have such a heart for this community.” – Hope Villines
As a school, we are committed to faith as our foundation. Liaisons model Christ daily whether it is checking in between classes, praying with a student, or walking through a tough season. They remind each student that they are known and valued by God.
“We want to remind them every day that they are loved here.” – James Garcia
Through one-on-one conversations, prayer, and practical support, the liaison team helps students strengthen both their emotional resilience and spiritual confidence.
For Hope and James, the most rewarding part of their role is the opportunity to share God’s love openly with students.
“I absolutely love this position and love getting to pour into so many students.” – Hope Villines
Through prayer, listening with full attention, and offering Christ-centered wisdom, she helps students know they belong.
A single caring relationship can change the trajectory of a student’s life.
Hope and James are committed to creating a culture where every student knows they are loved by God and their community, equipping them to become the world changers they were created to be.
