Dear Parents,                                   February 9, 2015

Don’t forget the Red, White and Blue Program THIS FRIDAY at 9:00 a.m. Please invite all your friends!! It’s a GREAT show! Our Valentine’s party will be right after recess (10:15). PLEASE dress your child in RED, WHITE and BLUE. Thank you!

Our teacher is very proud of us. We are learning so much at this time of year. We are growing strong. We are even practicing running. What a challenge! Please have your child wear his or her fastest tennis shoes for the next few weeks. The girls need shorts under their dresses for stretching exercises.

This week we are making a “storm” book and learning about the water cycle.

Many of us are really growing in math knowledge. Most of us can count to 100 by ones without help. We are also learning how to count by tens. In reading we are blending sounds together to make words. We are also writing words and sentences.

Our character trait is friendship. Our Bible verse is “Teach me your ways so I may know you”. Exodus 33:13. Please continue to send us notes demonstrating how your child is allowing Christ to develop His character in your child. We will be writing “smilebringer” crowns in a few weeks. Each child will have a turn to be honored and affirmed by the class.

The Fresno Christian Auction is just around the corner (Saturday, March 14). Be sure and order your tickets/tables as soon as possible. Tickets are going fast! Also remember, WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS! Popular auction items include: boutique items, collectibles, vacation packages, jewelry, art, tools, dinner packages, professional services, electronics, garden supplies, gift certificates, etc. Turn in the forms with your donation (or clearly mark auction donation) and our class will get credits towards a party. Don’t forget…Red, White, and Blue Review is next FRIDAY, Feb. 13th at 9:00 a.m. Please practice your child’s poem with them so they are prepared for our program. All parents and grandparents are cordially invited. The program will last about 30 minutes. Please dress your child in patriotic colors if possible. Blue denim is fine too. Don’t go out and buy a new outfit; this is just a fun and educational way to celebrate our beloved U.S.A. After the show we will have recess and then continue the fun with our Valentine Party. Thank you for all your support in helping with our “special” days! Don’t forget your camera!

Our Bible verse this week is “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness”, Matthew 6:33. The character trait is Honesty.

Friday, February 27, we will be honoring our dads. We invite all the dads or grandpas to come for a fun filled morning!! We really need you from 8:00 – 9:30… but you can stay all morning if you want to!! We realize that it is difficult to take time off, and if you can’t rearrange your schedule, we understand. Mrs. Witters January 26, 2015

Dear Kindergarten Parents,                                                January 26, 2015

Last week we celebrated the 100th day…. our soup was delicious!

We learned some new concepts in reading. Please keep reviewing letter sounds at home so that they are automatic. Many children are sounding out words and are reading short sentences. If your child isn’t to that point please don’t worry; every child is progressing at his or her own pace. The important thing is to keep reading to your child and impart the love of books to him or her. Please help your child with the work we send home and practice blending sounds together to make words.

We have been learning songs about love and Valentine’s Day. Last week I sent a poem or quote home for your child to memorize for our Red, White and Blue Review program on February 13. PLEASE practice this with your child. THANK YOU!

This week our character trait is Honesty. Our Bible verse is, “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.” Exodus 20:5.

Red, White and Blue Feb.13 th

I hope you all can come to our program (9:00 a.m.). It will be in the church North Lobby Chapel. Please dress your child in patriotic colors if possible. Blue denim is fine! This is a fun and educational way to celebrate our beloved U.S.A. After the show we will have recess and then continue the fun with our Valentine Party.

Please send the children’s valentine cards as soon as possible. Remember to have your child sign his/her name on the back of the card, but please don’t put the names of the other children on the cards or envelopes. It is so difficult to sort cards for so many children. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. I really appreciate it.

We will be practicing for physical fitness testing. Your children will be running, doing curl-ups, V-sit stretches, and pull-ups on the bars. They will be eligible for an award at the end of the year if they are able to complete all activities successfully; however, this is very difficult for young children to do. Little girls may want to wear shorts under their dresses. Everyone should wear some sort of running shoes.

The annual FCS AUCTION is coming up on Saturday, March 14th. It’s a fun night with great food. There is an extra attraction for the kindergarten parents and grandparents this year – we have a beautiful class quilt for sale!!! Hope you’ll come!

With our love and prayers,

Mrs. Witters

and your Honest Kindergartner

Thanks to all who helped to make our Cowboy Cookout a Texas-sized success. We had a rip-roaring time lassoing, barrel-racing, and making horses-in-the-blanket.

This week our verse is “In Quietness and trust is your strength”- Isaiah 30:15. Our character trait is Wisdom-seeing situations the way God does and making decisions which would please Him. We are trying to review and reinforce former character traits, so if you observe your child exhibiting one of them, please write me a note. We will read it to the class. The children are so excited to have their good qualities recognized by their parents and friends.

I am sending home your child’s part for the Red, White and Blue Review. Please practice it at home ! It is a VERY fun filled day!!! (February 13 at 9:00 a.m.)

Bring your cameras! If your child has cowboy boots or a cowboy hat, he/she can wear it on Friday. We will be making vests and bandanas. PLEASE send a SOUP SIZE TIN CAN for your “cowpoke” to drink out of at the cookout. We will be making cowboy grub to eat!!! PLEASE read the attached note about COWBOY DAY!!!!

Our Bible verse is Psalm 147:1, “Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God”. Our character trait is Perseverance; never give up when you are doing what is right and good.

Thank you for returning the Homework folders on Thursday. It is essential to your child’s progress. It helps to establish habits for the future school years.

VALENTINE”S PARTY and RED, WHITE AND BLUE

REVIEW

On Friday, February 13th we will be presenting our Patriotic Show ( RED, WHITE and BLUE REVIEW). There will be songs, flags, and each child has a special poem or saying to recite. BRING YOUR CAMERAS!! I will be sending home your child’s poem next week for you to practice at home. SHOWTIME will be at 9:00 a.m. After a recess we will have our Valentine Party! Please have your child send valentines to everyone in his/her class. This will avoid hurt feelings. DO NOT have your child write any names on the outside of the envelopes. Sorting mail for so many children can be a nightmare for the teachers!!!! Encourage your child to write his or her name on their cards. It’s great practice!
