Dear Parents,
I enjoyed meeting with each of you last week at our conference time and sharing the progress your child has made. I am so thankful for this wonderful class that God has blessed me with this year.
CHAPEL:
On Tuesday, September 23, our class will be presenting “The Story of Job” reader’s theater at 8:15 A.M. in the North Lobby Chapel. Parents are welcome to attend.
ROOM MOM:
Please contact Mrs. Vander Kooi if you are willing to be a room mom or assistant room mom this year. Duties include organizing one teacher luncheon and several class parties throughout the year. Thank you!
K-6 CHEER CLINIC:
The Cheer Clinic is from 3:30-4:30 PM on October 6-9 at the north field grass area. Learn cheers and chants and perform with the varsity cheerleaders at the Friday, October 10th football game and half time show! Send registration forms to the Central Office no later than Wednesday, October 1st. Email questions to Mrs. Raymundo at craymundo@fresnochristian.com.
SEPTEMBER READING:
Students will independently read a book from a different genre each month. Class time will be given every day for silent reading and students are expected to read a minimum of 10 pages a day. If they are unable to complete this in class, then reading becomes homework. The genre for the month of September is mystery. Students should show their selected mystery book to me for approval. Students will write a “Response to Literature” for this book, due on Tuesday, September 30. Practice responses and the rubric were sent home on Friday for parent and student reference.
WRITING:
This week students will independently write complete “Responses to Literature” in class and grade them using the rubric.
MATH:
This week students will continue Chapter 2: Addition, Subtraction and Equations. There will be a test on addition and subtraction of whole numbers and decimals on Tuesday, September 23.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
This week we will time travel to the past to learn about Native American Indians.
BIBLE:
This week we begin Unit 2: Writing in the Books of Poetry.
SCRIPTURE MEMORY VERSE:
Students will memorize scripture weekly and take a written test each Friday. The memory verse for this week is John 1:12 and the test will be this Friday, September 26. Students will be graded on writing the verse accurately, including correct wording, spelling, punctuation, grammar and scripture reference.
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
Titus 3:5
