HUME LAKE FOR 6TH GRADERS:
This year we will be going to Hume Lake for 6th grade camp October 14-18 to study Outdoor Education. Parents, you should receive an email from Hume Lake Camp. Please respond to it as soon as possible.
S.W.B.A.T. (students will be able to);
Bible: Psalms of Trust, Messianic, and beginning of Proverbs!
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Math: Unit 3 (math concepts Unit 2-5/6 text books) last week week studied equations and expressions. Quiz on Tuesday with 10 problems involving expressions and equations.
This week will will look into solving math with graphs. Along with our daily lessons, we will incorporate number talks and estimations to help us understand math in the real world!
Science: Last week students started their study of seeds, stems, and leaves. This week students will further their knowledge with the concepts of plant cells and photosynthesis. An essay response (10 pts), matching vocabulary, and drawing of a plant quiz will be given on Friday. An over view of the concepts will be sent home on Monday and students may use their science books to help review.
Language Arts:
1. Reading: Teacher read aloud: The Case That Time Forgot we will finish reading on Monday and take the Reading Counts quiz on Monday afternoon.
3. Student reading: Independent choice of MYSTERY. Students need to choose a mystery book to read for the month of September. They are to write a formal Response to Literature along with Author’s Purpose. The reading response is due Sept. 26.
